Samira is part of the seating collection Ahla Wa Sahla which deals with the values of hospitality inside the Syrian culture.
Ahla Wa Sahla is Arabic and stands for “be a guest in our family”.
The Syrian society put a lot of weight to hospitality. For them it´s an honor to host people and share their food and belonging with each other.
I have projected the warmth of the Syrian mentality and it´s welcoming gestures into seating furnitures.
Samira is a stool with an integrated mattress which invites to feel comfortable by sitting, leaning or laying. It is inspired by the typical laying position of the bedouins.
